what kind of PI?
what PI OS? (cat /etc/os-releaee)
if it is Bookworm, bookworm no longer uses X11 by default, it is using the Wayland compositor.
you can switch back to X11 using raspi-config, 6, a6
apt list xdotool (on my PI4-8G)
Listing... Done
xdotool/stable 1:3.20160805.1-5 arm64
xdotool/stable 1:3.20160805.1-5 armhf
