do any email clients allow you to send emails from command line?
you would authenticate at setup, then emails could be sent without authentication

or any alternate ways to get emails from crontab?

Yes, I understand that, but there has to be a way of storing the authentication in a key, so devices don't have to re authenticate
something like a mail client though only needs 2FA once

old Windows phones were mentioned somewhere here I think, and I think that was by using Azure which needs to be paid for
apparently Gmail has something, but nobody gave any more information on it (going from memory, I didn't check)

for now the script created a folder named the subject and a text file containing the body, and the file name is the date of the email from /var/mail/pi
this works but is no idea as I need to check the folder all the time
